Bobbi L. Newman writes, edits, and creates across formats, books, peer-reviewed articles, white papers, professional columns, and a long-running blog, all exploring the intersections of libraries, workplace well-being, community health, and professional practice.
Her books are published by ALA Editions and Rowman & Littlefield, and have been reviewed in Library Journal, Booklist, Technical Services Quarterly, Journal of Education for Library and Information Science, and other professional publications. Her most recently edited volume, Well-Being in the Library Workplace: A Handbook for Managers (ALA Editions, 2025), and her sole-authored Fostering Wellness in the Workplace: A Handbook for Libraries (ALA Editions, 2022) are widely used by library managers and administrators. A co-authored volume, The Public Librarian’s Guide to Answering Health Questions (with Carolyn Martin), is forthcoming from ALA Editions.
Her refereed scholarship appears in College & Research Libraries News and the Journal of Consumer Health on the Internet. She has contributed articles to American Libraries Magazine, Public Libraries Online, and WebJunction, and has been featured in interviews and podcasts, including Circulating Ideas, Library Land Loves, and The Librarian Linkover.
Since 2006, she has written Librarian by Day (librarianbyday.net), a professional blog covering workplace culture, employee well-being, and the evolving role of libraries.
